  11. Below is a Walker FAQ from the Amiga Web Page.  Here is the gist of it from
  12. what I gathered from the various irc logs etc:

  14. Summary    Motherboard will not be standard PC size but will be cheaper to
  15. and        make than the a1200 motherboard.  One price mentions $1000 DM,
  16. Comments   another at $1500 DM, all guesswork anyway.  PC HD drive and 
  17.            4x CDROM.  Lots of simm sockets.  Another custom cpu type slot
  18.            which means old cards are SOL.  Possibly cheaper cpu upgrades 
  19.            due to more room in the case as opposed to the situation with
  20.            the a1200.  AT will be providing a PPC upgrade with new roms.
  21.            Stanard PC io chips for things like modems and printers. 
  22.            Bizzare case with an external keyboard.  No details on keyboard
  23.            electronics as to whether it remains proprietary.  AGA with
  24.            possible third party intervention for PCI or custom graphics
  25.            cards.  EIDE interface means 4 devices instead of just two.
  26.            No PCMCIA slot (Yay!) expected in the production model.  This
  27.            means no scsi options but new parralel port makes up for it.
  28.            Socketed CIAs. (yay.)  At $1000 DM it would certainly be a
  29.            good machine to replace the a1200.   It will certainly allow
  30.            many amiga people to stay with the platform.  Sept/Xmass '96 
  31.        seems to be a long time to wait for it though.  It is definitely
  32.        the new amiga low end for the forseeable future.

  34.            PPC amiga will use standard svga graphics chips, seemingly targetted
  35.            at the a4000 market only.

  96.    This is the '1200+' or '1300'. The Walker is only the working

  192. A: Neither, it`s something new, you`ll be able to plug in Daughterboards 
  193.    with Zorro, PCI, PPC, 060er and so on, it`s up to 3rd party developers...

  199. A: It's just a minor update. Bugfixes, and support for the new things in
  200.    the walker.

  219.    that he didn'texpect it would have less than 2MB of Chip. It's 
  220.    difficult to buy less and it's not much cheaper.

  264. A: The Enhanced Parallel Port protocol was originally developed by Intel, 
  265.    Xircom and Zenith Data Systems, as ameans to provide a high performance 
  266.    parallel port link that would still be compatible with the standard 
  267.    parallelport. This protocol capability was implemented by Intel in the 
  268.    386SL chipset (82360 I/O chip). This was prior tothe establishment of 
  269.    the IEEE 1284 committee and the associated standards work.
